- What are the admissions requirements?
Admission to Rutgers University-Camden University College degree programs is based upon demonstration of previous academic success. The general criteria for admission include:
- Graduation from high school or successful completion of the GED examination.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 12 credit hours of college level work from a regionally accredited college to be reviewed as a transfer student. If the applicant has completed less than 12 credits of transferable college level work then the student's high school performance will be reviewed to ensure that he/she is prepared for study at Rutgers University.
- Complete the online application at www.admissions.rutgers.edu.
- Submit the application fee of $ 60.00 online, or by mailing a check, made payable to Rutgers University.
- Submit an official copy of your high school transcripts and official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Applicants may wish to submit other supporting information (i.e., resume, letters of recommendation, special skills, etc.) which might assist the admissions committee.
- How many credits can I take as a part-time student?
A maximum of 11 credits per semester.
- Can I take classes full-time?
Yes, but we do not advise a full-time class schedule for students who are working full-time or who have other full-time responsibilities outside of school.

Can I take classes during the day?
Yes, you may register for any course during the day as a University of College student, if you meet the requirements for that particular course. To view a list of all the majors and minors from the College of Arts and Sciences please visit http://www.camden.rutgers.edu/RUCAM/departAS.php.
- How often does an evening class meet?
Each class meets twice a week for sixteen weeks. Classes that are taken in the evening through University College generally last about an hour and a half. Most University College classes begin in the evening to accommodate the working professionals.

Do University College students receive a Rutgers University diploma?
Yes, upon completion of your program's requirements you will receive a Rutgers University diploma.
- How many credits will transfer?
A maximum of 64 semester hours may be transferred from a two-year institution. There is no maximum number of total semester hours that may be transferred from another four-year college; however, you must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours at Rutgers University. Rutgers University grants transfer credit based on content of courses previously completed, their applicability to the intended program of study, and the quality of the student's performance.

When will my college transcript(s) be evaluated for transfer credit?
Most credit evaluations are completed after transfer students have been admitted and have confirmed their intent to enroll. In general, credit is granted for courses taken at accredited colleges and universities which are the equivalent of courses offered by Rutgers University, provided a grade of at least a C has been earned. There is no statue of limitation on the age of credits that can be transferred in.
- What is NJ Transfer?
NJ
Transfer is a computerized data information system that Rutgers
has implemented with all of New Jersey's community colleges. It is intended
to ease the transition from these community colleges to Rutgers by providing
detailed information about transferring. This site enables NJ community
college students to view Recommended Transfer Programs (RTP) for the
first two years of each Rutgers major and assess the transferability
of the courses they are completing at their community colleges. A Recommended
Transfer Program is a list of courses that students should complete
during their freshman and sophomore years for a smooth transition into
a Rutgers major
- Is it possible to receive course credit for work and/or life experience?
Rutgers does not grant course credit for work or life experience.
- What is the profile of the University College students?
There are many ways to describe the students who attend University College. The majority of students are working professionals. Some are returning to college after taking time off to have a family and some are changing careers. Many may come directly from the military, community colleges, and from other four-year schools.
- Can I just take courses at Rutgers as a non-matriculating student and not pursue a degree?
Students wishing to be considered for non-matriculating status should submit the regular undergraduate degree application and all required credentials. Non-matriculating applicants with bachelor's degrees need only submit proof of a bachelor's degree.
- Is financial aid available to part-time students?
Yes. Financial aid resources include grants, scholarships, loans, and employment opportunities, which are designed to help students meet college costs. To qualify for financial aid through University College, you must be a part-time student matriculated (admitted to a degree program) through University College, demonstrate financial need (for most programs), and enroll for 1-11 credits during the summer, fall, and/or spring semester. - What scholarships are available?

- How do I schedule an appointment with an academic advisor?
Academic advisors are available to meet with students as walk-in or by appointment. During the peak times in the academic year, walk-in appointments may not be possible. Basic advising questions can also be addressed after hours for students who visit in the evening desk on the second floor Armitage Hall. - How do I view class schedules?
You can view class schedules at http://www.acs.rutgers.edu/soc .
- How do I check my application status?
After you have applied you may check the status of your application and supporting credentials on Your Rutgers Status (https://www.acs.rutgers.edu/ugstat) screen. You will need your four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) and your nine-digit SSN, or your assigned student identification number. Links from Your Rutgers Status screen will provide you with helpful information about requirements and submitting documents.
